About Our Dobsonian Mount Choices

Standard Series Solid Mounts

  • Standardized rocker box with altitude bearings.
  • Available as a kit, or finished but unassembled.
  • No modifications allowed with this design. Your tube must fit the mount.
  • Fits up to 12.5" outside diameter telescope tubes or up to 13" wide tube ring sets (flat to flat).
  • Provides 23" your tube swing-through room. Compute your swing-through distance here or e-mail for help.
  • Front, side and bottom boards connected rigidly, braced by internal 3/8" dowels, and screwed together.
  • Altitude bearings have inside tube braces cut to match tube curve.
  • Altitude bearing tube mounting requires two 3/8" bolt holes.
  • Altitude bearings come with friction fine tuning and handle cutouts for easy tube lifting and transportation.
  • Available with Sky Commander digital setting circles (reduces tube swing-through room to 22")

Singularity Collapsible Series Mounts

  • Custom designs that precisely fit your telescope tube. Designed for minimum height or your preference.
  • Available as a kit, finished, or finished but unassembled (saves on shipping).
  • Mounts to fit your existing altitude bearings, or with various altitude bearing types.
  • Tube mounted altitude bearings have inside braces matching tube curve. Requires two tube holes for 3/8" bolts.
  • All altitude bearing choices come with friction fine tuning and handle cutouts for easily lifting the telescope tube.
  • Folds flat (see photo) to 5" height for easy transportation and/or storage. Here is mount assembled.
  • One-piece. Fast assembly. All boards connected by heavy duty anodized hinges. Knobs store onboard.
  • Available with Sky Commander digital setting circles.

Kits, Finished Unassembled, And Finished Assembled

Kit. We provide:

18mm birch plywood 80 grit sanded rocker box boards, ground board, altitude bearings or clamshell rings with altitude bearings. Predrilled and countersunk screw and dowel holes. Predrilled and countersunk altitude and azimuth bearing Teflon. Altitude and azimuth bearing laminates. 3/8" dowels, #12 1.25" wood screws, #4 brass wood screws for altitude bearing laminate. Azimuth bearing assembly. If collapsible mount, arrives hinged together, assembled, unfinished.

You need: Fine sandpaper. Philips screwdrivers, hammer, two 9/16" wrenches. Contact cement. If clamshell rings 3/16" adhesive backed felt (we can advise). Paint or finish. If tube mounting altitude bearings: Two 3/8" bolt, nut and washer sets.
Finished unassembled. We provide: Spray finished 18mm birch plywood rocker box, ground board and altitude bearing or clamshell, unassembled. All screws and dowels. If collapsible mount, arrives hinged together.
You need: Philips screwdrivers. Two 9/16" wrenches. If clamshell rings, 3/16" adhesive backed felt (we can advise).
