Mirror Cells

AstroGoods mirror cells are individually designed and built for proper support point positions for optimal performance. By matching the cell to your mirror's specifications, distorting stresses in the glass are minimized. Glass deforms in response to any stresses. "Just enough" room is provided for your mirror in the cell; floating support pads rise 0.125" above the top plate, 0.125" space between both the mirror's side and three vertical supports and under the retraining clip overhangs.

  • Cells are constructed of thermally stable light weight 3/4 " Baltic Birch plywood.
  • Minimum height between front of forward plate and rear of back plate: 1.875"
  • Mounting holes for 0.25" bolts and nuts drilled in spokes of back plate.
  • 0.25" space (0.5" total) between cell and tube wall for ease of installing or removal.
  • 6" mirror cell kits have marks at the three optimal support positions to add felt pads.
  • 8" - 13.1" mirror cells have floating six-point supports at calculated best positions.
  • All cell rear plates drilled to accept cooling fans.
  • 120 grit sanded, all parts included. Requires finishing/painting and assembly.
